Red Elegance

This coat is a re tailored design of a classic style with a new take that is greatly influenced by my history and culture. The double layered element on the skirt and sleeves are inspired by traditional Greek costumes. The laser cutting and gold embroidery is influenced by the string of hearts plant. The embroidery uses a mix of colour threads to relate more to the imperfections of a plant’s coloration. Inspiration for the plant designing was taken by a plant that I grew from a little offcut to a long hanging healthy plant.In cold evenings outings my partner enjoys to pat my back as holding hands may be too cold. Thus, the overlapping panels on the back were designed for comfort and to keep his hand warm from the wind. It is a personal feature that was tailored into the garment to suit my lifestyle.
